You, guys, remember this name cause Gwil Sainsbury (guitar/bass), Joe Newman (guitar/vocals), Gus Unger-Hamilton (keyboards) and Thom Green (drums), from Leeds (UK) is gonna be a very big-big-big band. Yes, trust me. Why this name? ∆ (pronounced Alt-J), the delta sign is created when you hold down the alt key on your computer keyboard and punch ‘J’ on a Mac computer. Eheh… sweet and crazy.
You know that feeling when you find the sounds and the music you just didn’t know you were looking for? That´s what happened to me. And I loved it.
They´ve just finished their tour with Wild Beasts and Ghost Poet and now, they are preparing the uncomming debut album ‘An Awesome Wave’, out May 28th. Can´t wait to get it and listent to it in a vicious circle!
Please, enjoy with this video (directed by Ellis Bahl)
With this other one (my favourite song)
And with these other tracks I´ve found.
Have a nice day!
Hi!!
Long time ago, ups… Sorry, folks, I´ve been really busy working hard for several projects and collaborations. But… I am here again, wihoooou. And, as always, sharing good music and inputs.
This post is dedicated to the debut album of KO KO. These two guys from L.A. (who use to listent to Kurt Vile, Damien Jurado, Twin Shadow, Alberto Giacometti or Gerhard Richter), will make you feel happy, smell the summer and draw a big smile on your face. Yes, I´m not kidding! Check it out below and Enjoy!
PS: The artcover was made by Kelsey Moore. You can see more photos of her, here.
“One Got Fat” (1963) is a lesson about bike safety. This documentary features a group of children, all wearing ape masks, rides their bicycles to the park for a picnic. Along the way, each one meets a different fate on their way to the park as a result of their failure to follow specific bike safety rules. They’re hit by cars, flattened by steamrollers, falling down manholes, etc. and all but one are eliminated.
The actor Edward Everett Horton narrated the film and Max Hutto was the Photography director.
It´s truly something different, a creative and bizarre safety campaign. I´d like to find and see something similar in this day and age; everything is sooo boring… Obviously is not the most hilarious movie for kids, but I think it´d be a must see!
For generations, most of the photographs housed in the newsroom archive of The New York Times — known affectionately as “the morgue” — have been hidden away from the public eye in filing cabinets and manila folders.
UNTIL YESTERDAY!! The Lively Morgue is here!
Each week, the site will feature several photos from the 300,000 sacks of negatives, ranging in format size from 35 millimeter to 5 by 7 inches. The picture archive also includes about 4.7 gigabytes worth of imagery on each of 13,500 DVDs.
In my opinion, this is the best video of 2012. Yes, it is. One hundred per cent amazing. The director of this film is Ben Strebel, Strebel also directed Crystal Fighters ‘Champion Sound‘ or Animal Kingdom ‘Sings and wonders’.
But… firstly, I´d like to write a few lines about this band based in UK, cause I am sure we will hear a lot about them. Clock Opera are known for good remixes made for groups like the Drums, Bloc Party, Marina and the Diamonds, Tracey Thorn, Feist or Architecture in Helsinki. During the last years, they’ve taken the time to make their melodies, lyrics and compositions grow. Now, they are at last gonna release their own debut album, ‘Ways to forget’, on 9th April 2012. Finally! This is great news!
The driving force of this group is Guy Connelly, who has a special and emotionally naked voice, that you can recognize as soon you listen to any of his songs. Andy West (bass, guitar, synths), Che Albrighton (drums, samples) and Dan Armstrong (samples, synths, keyboards, backing vocals) are the rest of the Clock Opera members.
And… about the actors of the videoclip (good casting’ s work, indeed), the old lady is Ann Queensbury and the old man is Dudley Sutton.
I have to admit that I love him, so sweet… I´ve been checking his personal website and I´ve found interesting things and words, like these: “and now, at 73, I feel I am just starting out -still pretty broke but believe me, it is far wealthier to be inspired than be rich…”.
And, after watching this video, it´s probably you think the same that I did: whatever age you are, you should seize the day and the life.
No me equivoqué.
Gracias.
I´d like to talk about the artists who made this picture in another post, cause they have a really good stuff. So… for now, listen to The Moth And The Flame and enjoy with these nice atmospheres they create.
From Utah, USA, Brandon Robbins and Mark Garbett.
